Teh St. Petersburg Times reports today that the cult known as Scientology is attempting to obtain a restraining order to halt protests scheduled for Saturday, March 15. Dubbed “Operation Party Hard,” cyberactivists Anonymous scheduled the worldwide protest to take place on the birthday of cult founder and con artist-extraodinaire, L. Ron Hubbard. Anonymous promises that it will bring along “delicious caek” for the OSA and the RTC. Continue reading

This most recent one is a goldmine. Enjoy.

Of Misunderstoods

One of the things I’ve always loved about Scientology is its emphasis on words. In a sense, one might say its something we actually have in common. In my mind, words certainly do matter a great deal more than that for which people give them credit. Syntax, style, grammar–they are truly marvels of human development; not just in that we have elaborate sets of established rules by which we use them, but because we can intentionally subvert and twist them. This act can be playful just as much as it can be deceitful. Continue reading

Kate Olson photoPRESS RELEASE
Portland, Oregon – March 11, 2008
— For Immediate Release —
Portland, OR resident Susan Lentsch is issuing a public statement on March 15 at the Scientology Headquarters Los Angeles, CA, calling on her daughter’s employer, the Church of Scientology, to permit her daughter, Katherine “Kate” Olson, to come home from Los Angeles to Portland to visit her family. Ms. Lentsch has seen Kate for only six days during the past 15 years and reports that the Church of Scientology has forbidden Kate to leave the facility where she both works and is housed in order to visit family.

Kate was recruited into the Sea Organization (Sea Org), an affiliate of the Church of Scientology, in 1993, at age 17. Susan Lentsch, at that time a Scientologist, signed papers permitting her minor daughter to become a Sea Org employee; Ms. Lentsch states she signed the forms under pressure and while influenced by Scientology indoctrination. Only Anonymous could help give the Village Voice its journalistic balls back following its recent takeover, during which the paper “purifed” itself of its best writers like so much purple goo. Tony Ortega, author of the article that has the nipples of Xenuphobia so hard they could cut glass, is certainly worthy of the title SP of the Week–and it’s only Tuesday! The article, titled “What to get L. Ron Hubbard for his birthday,” refers to Scientology as a “ruthless global scam,” a “nuisance,” “nefarious,” “more like the mafia than a religion,” and “horny” (alright, we’re kidding about that last one. Still, Ortega’s article has us horny as all get-out).

To his credit, Ortega is no Ronny-come-lately when it comes to providing–gasp–actual news coverage of the cult. No, he’s never pussyfooted around the issue. And that says a lot, considering Ortega has been covering in the news since at least 1999 and still hasn’t ended up dead at the Fort Harrison–or in one of Hubbard’s 600 volcanoes. His current article is more delicious than even the most delicious of birthday caek. But don’t take our word for it; see for yourself. And you know? It’s about effing time.

In other $cn news, cult Grand Poobah DM has been a’courting yet another celebrity couple to the “church” to help repair its public image. While the term “beyond repair” is apparently quite the misunderstood for Miscaviage, no one can fault (flunk?) him for giving up too easily. No, the current couple isn’t Will & Jada or even Forest Whittaker and his wife–it’s Beckham. Srsly. Oh, and his Spice Girl co-thetan, Posh. Dave, can you say EPIC FAIL?

And, finally, the clam cult has finally made it to the big stage in the final “meta-play” of “The Scariest.”

“I only hit you because I love you! I’m sorry baby; come back. I won’t hurt you anymore. I promise. Come on, baby.” Yes, those are the words you might hear Cult of Scientology president David Miscaviage (DM) say if you happened to be his bayotch of the month. Or if your name is Jeff Hawkins.

Hawkins, a former Scientology cult member, who worked on graphic design and advertising for the cult (including some of the D:MSMH advertisements with the volcanoes) speaks on Tom Smith’s WXYB show, The Edge.

Among other things, Jeff adds his name to the growing list of defectors who have personally observed DM box the rosy ears of upper-level Scns. Among other things, Jeff relates:

“He never liked me. …He’s a very intense forceful commanding person. His public persona…he’s very intense…he has a certain kind of charisma…when you’re dealing with him…He is very intense and forceful and he actually rules the place through threats and fear and intimidation. And he loves to intimidate people and put them down. Continue reading

Amnesty International wants to hear from ESKs

That’s right, Amnesty International–or at least their Southern US Division–wants to hear from ex-Scientology kids about their experiences growing up in the Xenu Cult. They have asked for email-only information, but understand that many ESKs may wish to remain anonymous, and as such are accepting unsigned emails. In other words, just set up an anonymous gmail/hotmail/yahoomail account, and away you go. Continue reading
